Finding the best soprano ukulele is tough. There are several different options on the market, and the vast majority of them are not very significant.

In fact, some of the ones which people claim to be great are terrible. I should know, I have tried out most of them! That is why I have put together this list.

On this list, I am going to go through three of the best soprano ukuleles around at right now. They may not necessarily be the cheapest ukuleles out there, but if you choose something from this list, you can guarantee that it will be excellent.

best soprano ukulele and reviews

Best Soprano Ukulele  #1: Hola! HM-21 Soprano Ukulele, Color Series (Mahogany)

I want to kick start this list with an offering from Hola. There are a few people out there who avoid this ukulele. It is not hard to see why to be perfectly honest.

The pictures of it are not all that great. It looks like just another shoddily-made ukulele. It is anything but. In fact, for the price, this is one of the best soprano ukuleles for the money can buy!

It is clear that this soprano ukulele has been designed for the beginner. The low price is indicative of that. However, don’t be fooled by the cheap price, this instrument can still pack a real punch.

The fingerboard and the bridge of the ukulele have been created from rosewood. This feels fantastic in your hands. There are silver nickel position markers on the frets, which ensures that you know where you are always. To cap it off, the tuners are geared.

This means it stays in tune when you are playing it, unlike some of the other ‘cheap’ ukuleles on the market. So, basically, this ukulele is going to play well.

It is worth noting that this ukulele is on the cheaper end of the spectrum. This means that you should not be expecting something which is of a performance quality. It does not even try to promise that.

You should be expecting a good quality instrument which you can carry around in those situations where you may not wish to bring something expensive along due to the risk of breakage. Basically, I feel that this ukulele is going to be best for travelers.

Naturally, at this low price you can’t really expect anything mind blowing from it. It has not been made from the best materials around but, guess what?

It does not matter too much. It has not been designed to offer fantastic sound quality. It has been designed for those who want a cheap ukulele which can sound good, not amazing, just listenable.

This is one of only a few ukuleles in this price range which I can honestly, hand on heart, say that it managed to accomplish that.

I especially loved the fact that the soprano ukulele came in a variety of different colors.

I know, it is not the most fabulous thing in the world, but it is always good to have some choice! If you are purchasing a ukulele for a gift to a new player, then the Hola! MM-21 Soprano Ukulele may be just what they need.

Best Soprano Ukulele #2: Makala MK-S Soprano Ukulele

The next step up from the ‘Hola’ ukulele, at least on a pricing level, is the Makala MK-S Soprano Ukulele.

Before putting this review together, I consulted several teachers, and many of them recommended this as one of the best soprano ukuleles out there.

This is because not only does it feel good when you are playing it, but you can keep playing it well into your average playing years. It is a good, solid ukulele and it is unlikely that you will need to replace it anytime soon.

Right off the bat, I can tell you that this is a solidly-built instrument.

It has an Agathis wood body and wood top. This is paired with a rosewood fretboard and a mahogany neck. 12 brass frets complete the look. Straight away, you can tell that this is an instrument which has been designed to look good.

It does. I owned this for a while, and I can inform you that it always took a prominent location in my home because it didn’t look half bad. Looks are not everything, though.

You also should think about overall build quality. Thankfully, the ukulele has that too. When you have this in your hands, you never feel like it is just going to break on you. This is a feeling which I have had with many cheaper ukuleles, but never this one.

I think the real highlight for me is just how great the tuners are. Anybody who has owned a cheaper ukulele will know that they tend to go out of tune a lot. That is not the case with this one. It stays in tune, even after the longer playing sessions.

The only real downside to the Makala MK-S Soprano Ukulele is the fact that the strings it comes with are not very great. They are excellent for a beginner.

You can play on the instrument quickly; however, I can’t help but say that it does not sound the best with the strings it comes with attached to it. This is a great shame as the instrument really does have the ability to sound fabulous.

As a result, I suggest that when you do pick up this ukulele, you should pick up a set of strings to go with it. It will take a brilliant instrument to the next level regarding quality.

Best Soprano Ukulele #3: Ukulele Soprano Size Bundle from Lohanu

If you are just getting started with ukulele, then avoid beginner packs. They tend never to be all that good. The one exception to this rule is this offering from Lohanu.

The soprano kit from Lohanu is packed to the brim with goodies for your playing fun.

Everything that you need to get started with the instrument can be found in the box. This means a strap, case, tuner, picks, and pick holder.

A real highlight is the fact that the instrument already has strap buttons included.

Normally, you must install these yourself, and it is never worth it on the cheaper instruments due to the high cost.

In terms of build quality, then you have a beautiful looking ukulele here. I was surprised, when I saw the number of accessories that were bundled with the ukulele, I was convinced that the quality of the instrument would suffer.

It didn’t. You can expect a mahogany top, rosewood fingerboard, and chrome cast gears which hold their tune well. When I played this, I could not even imagine it breaking on me, even if it got knocked around a bit.

If you do suffer any issues, then you will be pleased to know that you can enjoy a lifetime warranty on it. The company is good on their word for this too. We have heard of several people making a warranty claim and succeeding.

What can I say about the sound? Well, the sound of this instrument is nothing short of superb. It comes close to the type of sound that you can experience from a far more expensive ukulele.

In fact, this instrument has no right to sound as brilliant as it should. Of course, it does not quite get to the levels that you can expect from a ukulele which may be 3-4x the price, but it comes close, and that is good enough.

The only real downside is that the accessories that you do get in your kit are not the greatest in the world. They are fine for beginners; I will give the instrument that, but if you are a more experienced player then you will want to upgrade them quickly to get the best playing experience.

That being said, we still love the fact that they are included as it helps a new player be introduced to the instrument without needing to spend tons of cash on getting ‘set up.’

Conclusion

I hope that I have given you a decent overview of top 3 best soprano ukuleles that are available to you.

As I mentioned at the start, many of the cheaper soprano ukuleles and soprano ukuleles on the market tend to be not all that great. That is why I put together this list.

I wanted to show you that even if you opt for a cheap ukulele, and that is something that most people will do when they are getting started with the instrument, you can still get quality.

Sure, there are few out there which boast quality at this price point, but if you choose any of the three instruments on this list, then I can guarantee you that they are going to be incredible amounts of fun to play.

This is because not only do they feel good in your hands, but they are just going to sound brilliant too. Both are rare for instruments at this end of the spectrum.
